SOCIALLY,
ST. Mary’s ADI Community Health Center is a close partner with Kayunga District HIV / AIDs Functions and other civil society organization supported by for the last 3 years. To attain the Uganda National HIV /AIDS strategic plan 2019-20 goal interventions that implemented under four thematic areas which include prevention , Care & Treatment & social and protection. Activities Undertaken;
- Conducted weekly radio talk shows in the local language on HIV prevention, support and care, hygiene and treatment and health messages.
- Trained peer educators in secondary schools on life skills, communication and SRHR.
- Held community dialogues on SRHR and SGBV prevention.
- Conducted Annual Drama competitions with HIV prevention Messages to promote behavioral change among the young people.
- Conducted a 2 days training of 35 religious leaders on SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights ), SGBV (Sexual and gender-based violence) and HIV prevention, care and support.
- Referral, counselling and follow up of 180 SGBV cases to different stake holders.
- Organised World AIDS Day campaign commemoration annually.
- Carry out follow up visits to Peer Educators clubs and sensitization HIV/AIDS, SRHR and SGBV in 30 Secondary Schools.
- Conducted HIV/AIDS awareness talks for 30,000 children in 50 Primary Schools.
- Training 30 Patrons from School Health Clubs in Schools SRHR, SGBV and care for 2 days,
BENEFICIARIES/PARTICIPANTS:
The development of these activities was informed by the concluding project, it involved the voices of the beneficiaries are people living with HIV/AIDS who have already been registered with ST. MARY ADI COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER, the general public in Kayunga both in institutions and community benefited from radio talk shows, and sensitization.
- 450 People living with HIV/AIDS.
- 810 Peer educators in Schools.
- 30 Secondary Teachers (Patrons), 30 Secondary School.
- 30,000 pupils in 50 Primary schools and 120 teachers reached with HIV/AIDS preventive messages.
- 35 religious leaders.
- 6 staff of ST. MARY ADI COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER and 24 volunteers supporting Community health center implementation.
- Peer educators clubs in secondary schools.
